Anita BertolamiAnita Bertolami

was born in 1981 in Switzerland. She began performing in 1999, first in classical and later in improvisation theatre. In Switzerland she studied action theatre, taught by Matthias Rüttimann.

Between 2001 and 2003 she partook in and completed the Commedia School, a two year theatre education in Denmark which involved forms of pantomime, Commedia dell'Arte, melodrama, clown, buffoon and puppetry.

In 2006 she began developing a series of puppetry numbers that would later become “Creeping Carnival”. Since then she has developed a second show called “Modo’s Carnival”, and performs these surreal and wonderful puppetry pieces in festivals and theatres throughout Europe. In 2008 she was invited to a tour through Australia and to one of the biggest puppetry festivals, "UNIMA2008 International Puppetry Festival and Conference" in Perth. She now lives in Freiburg, Germany.


In 2009 she recieved the Culture Development Award of the city of Thun, Switzerland.
